LeRoy James, 90 year old resident of Jay, Oklahoma passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Integris Grove Hospital.

LeRoy was born on February 16, 1927 in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was the son of Everett and Helen (Cassel) James. LeRoy proudly served in the National Reserves. He and his wife Geraldine “Jerry” lived in Ponca City where LeRoy worked for Continental Oil Company as a Research and Development Technician. LeRoy took an early retirement and moved to Lebanon, Missouri where he had a farm, raised cattle, he drove the school bus and owned and operated James Trucking Company. LeRoy was a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge #83 in Lebanon, MO. LeRoy and Jerry then retired to the Jay area to be close to their dear friends Ed & Elma Dean Sullivan. Wherever LeRoy lived, he was always very involved with the church, from teaching Sunday School to Vacation Bible School. He was a current and active member of Mt. Hermon Church.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents; Everett James and Helen (Cassel) James-Beasley and step father Carl “Pa” Beasley, his wife Geraldine James and his daughter Peggy Lee James. He is survived by his daughter Joyce Hiatt and her husband Neil of Lebanon, Missouri. LeRoy was blessed with four grandchildren; Ganece, Terri, Jeffery, and Jennifer and four great-grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 pm, Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Jay- Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Mt. Hermon Church. LeRoy will be laid to rest in Mt. Hermon Cemetery. Online condolences can be made by viewing LeRoy’s Book of Memories at www.honoringmemories.com.
