BREWSTER - Stephen Morrison Adams, 64, of Leland Road, Brewster and formerly of Mary Ann Way, North Attleboro, died on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007 at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Carol Hamblet Adams, to whom he was married on Jan. 17, 1970.

Born in Stowe, Vt., on May 22, 1942, he was a son of the late Rogers B. and Emily (Twombley) Adams. He was raised and educated in Stowe where he was a Vermont State Junior Golf Champion and the first to letter in four varsity sports in one year at Stowe High School. He was drafted out of high school by the Washington Senators as a pitcher.

He graduated from the University of Virginia in 1965 as a Phi Delta Theta brother.

From 1965 to 1972, he was employed by Texas Instruments as a sales engineer and marketing manager.

From 1972 to 1998, he worked at Boston Insulated Wire/Draka USA as a general manager and vice president of marketing and sales. In 1998, he started the SM Adams Sales Inc. while continuing to work with Draka USA as a sales consultant.

He served on the board of directors of the Massachusetts Chapter of the National MS Society from 1984 to 1994. He was honored by President George Bush at the White House in Washington, D.C. in 1986, having been bestowed the honor of "National MS Father of the Year."

Mr. Adams served on the board of directors of Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, was a member of the North Attleboro Finance Committee and the Blue Ribbon Committee at Bishop Feehan High School, and was the record keeper and chief scribe of the "Grand Slammers" bridge group.

Active in St. Basil's in Methuen and in prison ministry, he served as the cursillo rector in October 2005.

An avid golfer, he was a member of the Highland Country Club in Attleboro and the Captain's Course in Brewster.

He will be remembered as a great storyteller. He was passionate about his family, his friends, his life and his faith. His courage and spirit were infectious and will long be remembered.

In addition to his wife of 37 years, he leaves his children: Kristin Adams Litke and her husband Michael Fredrick Litke of Bellevue, Wash., Kevin Rogers Adams and his wife Amanda Talbot Adams and their two sons Rogers Talbot Adams and Eamon Paul Adams of North Attleboro, and Todd Hamblet Adams and his wife Maura Schneider Adams of Delray Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Susan Adams Breen of Salem, N.H., and Shelley Adams Little of Modesto, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Wednesday, Jan. 24 from 3 to 8 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Ave. (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, ¾ mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, Jan. 25 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main St. - Route 152, Attleboro, with the Rev. Martin Hyatt, pastor of St. Basil's Church, Methuen, and Rev. Richard Roy, pastor of St. John the Evangelist Church, Attleboro, co-celebrants.

Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, North Attleboro.

Following cemetery services, an invitation will be extended to join the family for an afternoon of continued fellowship and reflection at a location to be announced.

The family asks that flowers be omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the "Steve Adams Drive on Fund."
