Verna was the last surviving child of John J. Rushing and Victoria Patton.

Obituary of Verna Rushing Carter
Verna Rushing Carter, age 85, of Woolmarket, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2017 in Biloxi.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Victoria Rushing; her husband, Ray Carter; and her siblings, Alton, Eva, O.J., Obie, Harry, and Naif Rushing.

Survivors include her children, Vicki (Nolon) Saucier and Steve (Jean) Robbins; grandchildren, Eric (Sharon) Robbins, Jason (Tina) Robbins, Nolon (Tiffany) Saucier, Mary and Anna Saucier; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Michael Robbins; and beloved sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was a lifelong resident of the Woolmarket Community of Biloxi where after twelve years of perfect attendance she graduated from Woolmarket High School in 1948. Mrs. Carter loved her whole family and took pride in caring for them. She was one of the best cooks and love was felt in the meals she shared. She was a lifelong member of Coalville United Methodist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and cooking for church events. She was a past member of the Woolmarket Garden Club and enjoyed gardening with her husband. Her family wishes to thank Saad Healthcare for their compassionate service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Coalville United Methodist Church, 12274 Shorecrest Road, Biloxi.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. with the funeral service following at 12:00 p.m. at Coalville United Methodist Church, 12274 Shorecrest Road, Biloxi.

Interment will follow at Coalville Cemetery.
