Parker Reedy Funeral Home Georgia Kay “Jody” (Boyett) Hopkins died Saturday, April 8th 2017 in St. Louis, MO. She was born on December 15th, 1948 in DuQuoin, IL to Bill Boyett and Jean (Boyett) Young. She graduated from FCHS in West Frankfort in 1966 and attended business school at Draughton Business College in Paducah, KY. She was the office manager for the dental practice of Dr. Seb Pagano until his retirement and then for Dr. Lindsey Ingle until recently. She loved that job. She was loved by patients and coworkers alike for more than 25 years. Jody was a proud sister to Richard Boyett and his wife Beverly and was thrilled to enjoy their company more since Richard’s retirement. Her best friend was her sister, Billye Jo Pearson, who we all call JoJo. Billye’s husband Donny was one of Jody’s biggest cooking fans, and cooking for her family was a passion in Jody’s life. Jody’s inspiration and hero was her mother, Jean Young. Jody had two sons, twins named Sean and Aaron. Sean and his wife Lisa have two children, Annabelle Honor and Maybelle Joy. Aaron and his wife Amanda are also the parents of two children, Julian Aaron and Everly Rain. As proud as she was of her sons, nothing could make Jody happier than her grandkids. She was at every softball game, baseball game, birthday party, school concert, play or piano recital. Even when her health was in decline, she was at the park, yelling for Annabelle or Julian with a cooler full of snacks and drinks. She was very proud of her High School Class, the FCHS class of ’66. She enjoyed planning their reunions and keeping in touch with her classmates. Her sisters in the Xi Alpha Pi sorority were her best friends and co-conspirators in over 40 years of hijinks. Jody was a proud participant in the West Frankfort Arts Council, serving as makeup artist to several generations of actors and actresses in local theatrical productions. Jody was active in St. Johns School and Church, and was very proud of her Catholic faith. A friend to many, her absence will be felt for a long time. She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Bill Boyett, uncle Bill Heller, aunt JoAnn Burns, grandparents John and Gladys Heller, grandparents Claude and Sybil Boyett and best friend, Nancy Foder. Jody is survived by her mother Jean, stepfather Ruel Young, brother Richard (Beverly) Boyett, sister Billye Jo (Donny) Pearson, sons Aaron (Amanda) Hopkins, and Sean (Lisa) Hopkins. She also leaves behind her pride and joy, grandkids Annabelle Honor and Maybelle Joy Hopkins and Julian Aaron and Everly Rain Hopkins. Jody is also survived by her close friend, Anthony Foder, her many loving friends and sorority sisters, and many nieces and nephews. A mass of Catholic Burial with Fr. Eusebius Mbidoaka and Deacon Michael Rowland will be held at St. Johns Catholic Church in West Frankfort on Thursday, April 13 at 10:00 a.m.. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 12 at Parker Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Burial will be in the Masonic & Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton.
