Betty J. (Mason) Castelluccio, 93, of New Cumberland, PA and formerly of 35 East North Street, Waynesboro, PA, passed away Saturday April 8, 2017 in Pinnacle Health Hospital, Harrisburg, PA.
Born January 19, 1924 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Burt K., Sr. and Myrtle A. (Watkins) Mason.
Betty was a graduate of Waynesboro High School with the Class of 1942.
She and her husband, the late John A. Castelluccio, were married February 2, 1943 in Leitersburg, MD. Mr. Castelluccio passed away February 10, 2003.
Betty was employed at Grant's Department Store, Waynesboro for a number of years until its closing, and later at Bon-Ton Department Store, Chambersburg for many years as a custom drapery consultant.
She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Waynesboro.
Betty will be remembered for many things: her quick sense of humor, her love of being near the water, especially the ocean, being at Pen Mar Park, eating Butter Pecan ice cream from Brusters, and "Zagnut" candy bars. In not too many years past, Betty loved to spend afternoons at Renfrew Park, sitting in her lawn chair IN the creek, facing the sun, and reading a good book until sunset. She enjoyed many summers at the 'lake' at Waynesboro Fish and Game, along with all her girlfriends, settled under 'their tree' while their children played. Betty had a big Italian – Catholic family and she loved and welcomed all their friends to spend time at their home on East North Street, where there were many pizzas and plates of spaghetti & meatballs eaten over the years.

Betty was a proud member of the Class of 1942, devoting time to the planning and preparation of reunions and Christmas gatherings. It was a labor of love. She was also a Pen Pal with several classes at St. Andrew School over the years, with each class taking an annual field trip to 35 East North Street, where they would enjoy a picnic lunch prepared by Betty. She followed and remained 'pals' with one class until their graduation from the school, and held a graduation party for them at her home. She was a diehard Penn State, Joe Paterno, and Pittsburgh Steelers fan, often acting as a very vocal 'volunteer' coach and official from her living room recliner. She also had a passion for watching golf and was a loyal fan of Tiger Woods.
Her biggest love and joy was her family. She was a wife, mother, and grandmother, being named and known as Mom, 'Mom-Betty' or 'G-Ma,' depending on the generation. She was happiest when surrounded by all of her loved ones, about whom she would brag endlessly. She will be dearly missed by her son-in-law, Lindsey who will miss their daily "I Love You Calls."
Betty is survived by six children: Judith Eakle and her husband, Donald of Waynesboro, Rebecca Burns and her husband, Terry of Harrisburg, J. Michael Castelluccio and his wife, Nancy of Stillwater, MN, Teresa Hoover and her husband, Lindsey of Waynesboro, Julie Ulery and her husband, David of Stansbury Park, UT, and M. Angela MacDonald of New Cumberland, PA; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Doris Bailey of Evening Shade, AR; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by a grandson, Jordan R. MacDonald, who passed away in 2012; three sisters, Alice Highlands, Muriel Weaverling and Mary Middlekauff, and one brother, Burt K. Mason, Jr..
