Lorine was the daughter of Laura Belle Blackwell and James H "Jim" Calhoun; she was married to Willie Davis, Jesse Arnold, and John W Simmons.

ROCKFORD - Lorine Simmons, 96, died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, in Willows on Main after a lengthy illness. Born May 6, 1908, in Lawrence County, Ark., the daughter of Jim and Belle Nunn [Calhoun]. She was a Rockford area resident for 53 years. Married to J. W. Simmons; he predeceased her in March 1983. Survivors include daughters, June Massingill and Mary Moore; sons, Ed Calhoun and Roy Arnold, all of Rockford; 16 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Also predeceased by son, Del Calhoun, in 1985; and sister, Alma Berry, in 1989.

Service at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, in the chapel of Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, with the Rev. Dr. William Richard Kerr Sr. of Riverside Community Church officiating. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
