Joseph Herman Wade, 92, husband of the late Bette Long Wade of Greensboro, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at home. Herman was born on September 25, 1924 in Guilford County, the son of Della and Marvin Wade.

He graduated from Jamestown High School where he excelled in sports and was the captain of the boys' basketball team. He then served during World War II as a member of the U.S. Army-Air Corps. He was a member of Burnett's Chapel United Methodist Church for several years, and was involved in many church activities. He loved riding his tractor in his yard and playing golf. Herman and his wife were accomplished ballroom dancers and were awarded many trophies for their talents. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all.

Herman was preceded in death by his loving wife Bette Wade and is survived by his daughters, Dixie L. Kuczewski of Greensboro, NC, NC State Senator Trudy Wade of Greensboro, NC, Lisa J. Brattich of Emerald Isle, NC; grandchildren, Stanley A. Kuczewski and wife Tammye and Joseph S. Kuczewski, all of Maryland, Sergio Brattich of Italy; great-grandchildren, Kimberly Hope Kuczewski and Krystian Kuczewski.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 3:00 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. Entombment with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard will follow at the Guilford Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Burnetts Chapel, 1201 Old Burnetts Chapel Road, Greensboro, NC, 27406.
