Hosea Lorenzo Williams II, the eldest son of civil-rights leader Hosea Williams, Sr., died Monday, September 21, 1998, in North Carolina of complications from a bone marrow transplant performed 1 1/2 months ago. He was 43.

Mr. Williams was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia last year. He underwent a bone marrow transplant this summer and seemed to be doing well until about two weeks ago, a family friend reported.

Mr. Williams grew up in Atlanta and attended Morehouse College and the University of Georgia Law School. He married Andria (Lisa) Williams, and the couple had four children: Hosea III, Porsha, Benton and Lauren. Mr. Williams is also survived by his mother, former Georgia Rep. Juanita T. Williams, two brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services were scheduled for noon Friday, September 25, at Israel Baptist Church in Atlanta.
