While it is unknown exactly where Logan is buried, a thoughtful relative placed this double marker here sometime between 2003 and 2016. Logan's wife, Mary Ragland Coffee is buried here.

Logan is the son of James Coffee and Betsey Coffey (cousins), who were married in Adair County, Kentucky on March 4, 1804.

Below is a timeline showing what else we know about Logan, that can be surmised from original documents:

1809 - born in Kentucky
1837 (abt) - married Mary Ragland, prob. in Jackson Co., AL
1840 - Marshall Co., AL; Federal Census(1)
1843 (abt) - moved to Texas (2)
1846 - Colorado Co., Texas; Republic of Texas Poll Lists
1850 - Colorado Co., Texas; Federal Census
1860 - Lavaca Co., Texas; Federal Census
1865 - Murdered while hauling load between Brownsville and Lavaca Co., Texas.
1865-1872 Lavaca Co., Texas - Estate of Logan Coffee proceedings

(1) Marshall County, Alabama is adjacent and SW of Jackson County, Alabama.
(2) Logan and Mary Coffee's son, William D. Coffee, was the oldest child of theirs to claim Texas birth.

Some things about Logan that have been stated in secondary sources for decades and which may be true, but further study of source documents needs to be made:
It is claimed Logan had a middle name of McMillan. (Am looking for source documents and early narratives by Logan descendants; will update when located).
It is claimed Logan was born in Adair County, KY. This is very possible but as much as this family moved, and as few times as Logan's parents show up in actual records, this needs more investigation. We know Logan's parents were married in Adair Co., KY in early 1804.

Look forward to hearing from other COFFEE researchers to help fill in more blanks.
