Ken Boynton Beverly died April 9th at Langdale Hospice in Valdosta, Georgia.

Ken was born November 14, 1945, in Pahokee, Florida, to the late Clara Boynton Beverly and Max Edward Beverly.

He grew up in Ochlocknee, Georgia, a place he loved his entire life. He graduated from (Thomas County) Central High School and the University of Georgia where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.

He received a Master of Hospital Administration from Baylor University. Although he was a lifelong Methodist, first at Pahokee Methodist, then Ochlocknee Methodist Church and for 40 years at Thomasville First United Methodist Church, he became a devoted member of Coolidge Baptist Church in 2014.

Ken proudly served seven years in the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps achieving the rank of captain. He served with the 7th Surgical Hospital in Vietnam as a medical supply officer. He retired from Archbold Hospital where he worked for 34 years. He began his career at Archbold as Director of the Archbold Community Mental Health Center and later served as President of John D. Archbold Hospital and Archbold Medical Center. In 2003, he served as Chairman of the Georgia Hospital Association and also served on the Regional Policy Board of the American Hospital Association.

Ken was active in Thomasville and Thomas County activities and was supportive of many preservation, charitable, and humanitarian projects in the area. He was named Man of the Year by the Thomasville-Thomas County Chamber of Commerce in 1995.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Mary Jo Smith Beverly; two sons, Max F. Beverly and wife, Charnie; Franklin B. Beverly and wife, Rachel; five grandsons, Max, Rich, Franklin, Strong and Thomas; brother, Joe E. Beverly and wife, Mary; two nieces, Laura B. (John), Julie B. (Joel); four great-nephews; one great-niece; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy and Rick and Becky and Jim.
