Diannah Harriett Greer was born to James and Susannah Searcy Greer in Sumner County Tennessee on Novenber 28, 1806. Her parents were wealthy plantation owners.
Diannah's mother died when Diannah was 13 and for about 3 years she lived with her aunt.
Later her father married Rachel Williams and brought the family together.

Diannah married Willliams Washington Camp on January 18 1822 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Diannah is the mother of 15 children. Diannah & Williams' first 6 children Mary Wentworth, Susan Searcy, Elizabeth Janie, James Greer, Dionysus Paul, and Susan Ann were born during the 9 years they lived in Alabama. The twins, Robert Ira and John David, Martha Damarius, Catherine Ellen, William Polk, Harriett Diannah and Emma Eliza were born in Tennessee after they moved in 1832. Richard Cecil was born at Council Bluffs, Iowa and Margaret Henrietta was born in Missouri. Six of these children died before age 10. Diannah mourned greatly for many years because of these early deaths.

In 1843. the Mormon missionaries taught the family the restored gospel and they commenced to join with the saints in Nauvoo, Illinois, arriving when the saints were being driven out so they moved across the Mississippi into Iowa. While Diannah and Williams were living in Iowa food was scarce. Williams took two wagons and traveled to Missouri where he purchased supplies.
In 1850 their son, James Greer, joined the Mormon Battalion and was in company B.

The Camp family left Council Bluffs in June and it is reported in the Clayton/Kohles account in The Greer Trail by Laurie Jo Rhoton that "Diannah and the younger children rode in a nice buggy. Their negro men were freed but wanted to stay with the family so they drove the 2 wagons filled with clothing and food while others herded a number of loose stock. By the fall of that year, the Camps were living in wagons, tents, and a one room cabin in Sessions Settlement, now Bountiful Utah.
Williams again set up a blacksmith shop and made many tools for the farmers."

After her husband's death, 21 November 1875, Diannah traveled by train to Kimball, Texas to visit her daughter Catherine Ellen whom she hadn't seen for 20 years. Diannah died there March 18, 1876.
