Paul V. Dixon, Lt. Col. USAF (Ret.), 91, of Summit, MS., passed away on April 9, 2017 at St. Catherine's Village in Madison, MS.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 11 AM until services at 2 PM at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb at the 905 Park Dr. location. Dr. Larry LeBlanc will officiate and burial will be in Adams United Methodist Church Cemetery, Auburn, MS.

Mr. Dixon was born September 10, 1925 in Norfield, MS. He was the son of the late Hiram Wesley and Bertha Smith Dixon.

Mr. Dixon began his military service during WWII earning his wings as a B26 pilot. Prior to reporting to the south Pacific, the war was ended and he returned to Southwest Mississippi. He then attended Southwest Mississippi Community College and served as student body president and played football. He married and moved to Oxford, MS to attend the University of Mississippi School of Law and graduated in 1950.

After practicing law in McComb for several years he was offered a commission, accepted it, and returned to military service. His service spanned 30 years active and reserve to include WWII, the Korean Conflict and the Viet Nam war.

Mr. Dixon was a member of the First Baptist Church in Summit and was a member of the John A. Quitman Lodge #244 in Auburn, MS. He was a Melvin Jones Fellow in the McComb Noon Lions Club. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather. He loved to travel the world. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Margaret Hazel Gallent Dixon and his second wife, Lurline Sauls Lansing Dixon and one infant son, Thomas Avery Dixon.

He is survived by two daughters, Margaret A. Dixon of Summit and Victoria Dixon Dunaway and husband, James of Brandon and one granddaughter, Natalie Jane Dunaway of South Orange, NJ.
