Born in Oconee County, she was the daughter of the late Lewis C. and Maebell Ramey Kirby.
Mrs. Vaughn was a homemaker and member of Sans Souci Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Cynthia Huie and husband, Bill, of Greenville; two sons, Richard Vaughn and wife, Theresa, of Easley and Stanley Vaughn and wife, Jacqueline, of Pelzer; two sisters, Dot Hammond of Simpsonville and Joan Bridges of Anderson; eight grandchildren, Sarah Huie, Samantha, Justin, Connor, Brian, Laney, Jacob and Emma Grace Vaughn.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Upstate SC Chapter, 301 University Ridge, Suite 5000, Greenville, SC 29601.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 23, 2011 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown with the funeral service following at 1:30 p.m. in the Downtown Chapel. Burial will be in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
The family will be at the home of her daughter, 317 Arezzo Drive, Greenville, SC 29609.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Mrs. Vaughn's caregiver's, Virginia Burgess and Loretta Dawkins and hospice nurse, Barbara Hunter.
