Catherine W. (Willemin) Hines, 98, of Huron, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 at her residence in Huron.

She was born March 27, 1918 in Providence, RI and has been a resident of Huron since 1967 coming from Bristol, CT.

She worked as a kindergarten teacher for Shawnee and Woodlawn Elementary Schools in Huron for 20 years.

She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Huron and played the organ for the church and was a member of the choir and the Altar Society of the Church. She was an accomplished musician. She was involved with the Town & Country Theater of Norwalk as an actress and played the piano and violin in the orchestra as well as being an usher and Board Member. She was a member of the Firelands Chorale Society, the League of Women Voters in Conn, the Farm Bureau, Bristol and Hartford Symphony, and organist of St. Joseph’s Church of Bristol. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed knitting in her earlier days. She was a devoted wife, mother, Grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is survived by five daughters, Harriet (Ross) Forbes of Shelby Twp, MI, Katie (Albert) Weinning of DeRidder, Louisiana, Joan (Cliff) Highland of Brewster, NY, Ruth Hines of Huron, and Roberta Hines of Huron; 9 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John Hines in 2012; her parents, Louis Paul and Mary Louise (Roche) Willemin; her daughter, Carol Wilson in 2007; and 1 sister and 3 brothers.

Friends may call Sunday, March 26th from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Foster Funeral Home & Crematory, 410 Main Street, Huron. A Christian Memorial Mass will be held Monday, Mar 27th at 10 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, 430 Main Street, Huron, with Rev. Jeffrey McBeth, officiating.

Private burial will take place at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
