A beautiful lady full of Scotch-Irish strength and faith. She is my grandmother and the person I admire the most in my life. She had a very hard life, raising 7 children without her husband.
He was killed when the youngest was only 6 mos old. Grandma never asked for anything and always thanked her Lord for everything. She was surely an angel on earth. I loved her very much and she will always be in my memories and in my heart. God Bless you lovely lady.
Her husband was Moffat Bigham DeWitt and he is buried at Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church Cemetery also.
She was the daughter of Minnie Tidwell and William Clarence McWatters. Her brothers were Archie,James,Tom,Jess,Roy,her sister was Lillie McWatters Bigham, Her children were Mildred Inez DeWitt Peay(married to William Morgan Peay, Wilson Moffat Dewitt(married to Helen Proctor DeWitt,Margaret Katherine Smith Dove(married first to Andy Smith and divorced and married to Harvey Coleman Dove, Janie Mae DeWitt Wages(married to Harold David Wages,Frances Dorothea DeWitt Peay(married to Robert Allen Peay, William Thomas DeWitt(married to Gladys Gertrude Smith DeWitt but divorced, and Wilbur Melvin DeWitt(married to Joanne Wrenn DeWitt but divorced. Only 2 of these children are still alive Wilson, and Janie.
Her grandchildren are: Betty Jean Peay Weaver married to Thomas Weaver, William Moffat Peay (Billy), and George Wayne Peay married to Debbie Wolfe Peay,Roger Coleman Dove, Michael Todd Dove, Martha Raye Wages Bright married to Albert Jerry Bright,Steven Birdett Peay, Ronald Alan Peay(deceased)

Her daughter Mildred was killed in an accident, daughter Margaret died of lung cancer son Melvin died of Cancer.
William Thomas died of cancer and daughter Frances died of cancer.
