MARENGO - Tyler G. Gardner, 16, passed away Friday morning, April 7, 2017 at JourneyCare Hospice in Woodstock. He was born Aug. 18, 2000 in Elgin the son of Mark and Jennie (Lay) Gardner. Tyler was a graduate of St. Charles Borromeo Grade School in Hampshire, and was currently a member of the Junior Class of Marian Central Catholic High School in Woodstock. Tyler was a typical teenager who loved video games and hanging out with his group of close friends. Surviving are his parents, Mark and Jennie of Marengo; brothers, Michael Grzejka, and Chandler Gardner; maternal grandparents, Michael and Sue Lay; paternal grandparents, Richard and Carol Gardner. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 6 pm Tuesday evening, April 11 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road in Huntley. Private burial will be at 10 am Wednesday at the St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Hampshire. Visitation will be on Tuesday at St. Mary's church from 2 to 5:45 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be directed to Jacks Fund, P.O. Box 436, Glen Ellen, IL 60138. The Fredrick Funeral Home in Hampshire is assisting the family.
