Celebration of life for Jacqueline Sims will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church with burial in Rainbow Memorial Gardens.
Many memories of Jackie will remain with her daughters, Kierra and Kendrelle Sims; sister, Faye Battle Rogers; brothers, Darryl Ledford, Brandon Lindsey Sims, Don Jackson and Alan Sims; aunts, Irene Moore and Eva Wilson; and many other relatives and dear friends.

On July 3, 1954, in Gadsden, AL, God blessed AL and Bertha Sims with a beautiful baby girl, whom they named Jacqueline Cornelius. Jacqueline, who later became known by most as Jackie, grew up in Gadsden, AL. She began attending church early on, and therefore, accepted Jesus Christ into her life at an early age. She was educated in the Gadsden City School System, attending Carver High School for two years before graduating from Gadsden High School in 1972, due to the closing of Carver High School.
After high school, she was later employed by Meadow Gold Dairy, where she worked as a bookkeeper for nearly ten years. For many years after Meadow Gold Dairy, she worked alongside and helped a dear friend of hers, Diane Glass, with her daycare and maid service. During this time, God blessed her with two wonderful daughters: Kierra and Kendrelle Sims, who she dedicated her entire life, teaching and making them the beautiful, well rounded, strong women that they are today.
In 2001, Jackie, along with her two daughters, embarked on opening a business of their own, SimBa Merchandising Company, which is a specialty gift basket company, now known as SimBa and Company. This small company later led to the opening of other businesses, such as Web Designs Plus By K K & J, The Ladies of KéKiJá Calender, and KéKiJá Magazine. Collectively, the companies became K K & J N’Terprizes. Jackie had big plans for this company, and was in the process of furthering it's development.
Jackie had many hobbies and several things that she enjoyed doing. Two of which included fashion and sewing. Sewing was something that she learned to do in school, and she became very good at it. Whenever anybody needed something taken up, let out, patched up, or fixed, they would call Jackie. She also loved to dress. Whenever you would see her, she always looked like a movie star. You never caught her with a hair out of place or without her lipstick and earrings. However, one of the biggest things that probably stood out about Jackie was her love for other people and big heart for helping others.
She began attending church at Bethal Missionary Baptist, which was her mother’s church, under the pastoral directory of Pastor Kenneth Malone. She attended services often, until her health began to have her a little “under the weather,” as she often referred to it. Jackie was a real go getter. She was a strong woman with a strong personality, and that remained unchanged until God called her home to her eternal dwelling place, to be with those who have already gone on before her: mother, Bertha Lee “I.B.” Sims; father, AL Sims, Jr.; grandmother, Rosa Stewart; and grandson, Khi’Erre Sims.
