Sondra Westby Parker, 76, died in her home on Thursday, May 22, 2008, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Sondra was born on January 18, 1932 in Tacoma, WA. She graduated from Orting High School in Orting, WA, and soon after married the love of her life. Together they traveled the world with their family. She has visited over 60 countries and went through the Panama Canal a month ago. Sondra has lived in Washington, Guam, Oregon, California, Florida, Toulouse, France and Mississippi.
Sondra was an avid bridge player, and a member of the Duplicate Bridge Club and the American Contract Bridge League. She has also been an active member of Newcomers groups wherever she has lived.
She was a member of St. Peter's by the Sea Episcopal Church.
She was preceded in death by her son, Bradley Warren Parker; parents, Ragnvald Oliver Westby, Hilma Amanda Westby; and brother Dean Westby.
Sondra is survived by her husband of 57 years Philip Parker; her sons, Douglas Parker and Brian Parker, Gulfport; her daughter, Paula (Tim) Treece, Johnson City, TN; her brothers, John Westby, Chehalis, WA, and Roald Westby, Nampa, ID; her grandchildren, Bradley (Kelli) Parker, Brendan Parker, Emily Parker, Katie Parker, Anna Parker, Elizabeth Treece, Sarah Treece and Dylan Treece; her great grandson, Philip Parker; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to St. Peter's by the Sea Episcopal Church, 1909 15th Street, Gulfport, MS 39501.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 28, 2008 from 5 until 7:00 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport. The funeral service will be Thursday, May 29, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's by the Sea Episcopal Church, Gulfport where friends may visit from 10:00 a.m until the service.
