Dana Turner, 98 years of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Friday, April 7th, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Dana was born in Ano, Kentucky on August 5th, 1918, son of the late John D. and Viola Chaney Turner. Dana was a United States Army Veteran of World War II.

Dana was survived by two daughters, Joan Smither of Somerset, Kentucky and Judy Ann Tolle of Greenfield, Indiana; ten grandchildren, Aaron Carson, Robert (and Mary) Carson, Robin (and Ralph) Martin, Ricky Carson, Ashley (and Lucas) Poynter, James (and Amanda) Howe, Terry (and Sandy) Burgett, Tina (and Jimmy) Smith, Tony (and Chris) Turner, and Natalie (and Mike) Robinson; twenty three great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Turner, who departed this life on March 5th, 1980 and Viola Turner, who departed this life on July 8th, 1962; his wife of 70 years, Sylvia Arthur Turner, whom he married in London, Kentucky on March 15th, 1946 and who departed this life on February 6th, 2017; two sons, Dale Dana Turner and Onvie Wayne Turner; one grandson, Thomas Gregory Howe, Jr.; three brothers, Everett, Elbert, and Matt; and two sisters, Edith and Lela.

Visitations were held after 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11th, 2017 at the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 12th, 2017 in the Chapel of the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Lawson officiating.

Dana's pallbearers were his grandsons. Full military honors were conducted by the American Legion Post No#38.

Burial followed in the Adkins-Arthur Cemetery in Pulaski County, Kentucky.
