She was born March 28, 1926 in Alleghany County, the youngest of eight children to the late Robert Marcus and Mary Allen (Reid) McCoy.
She was also preceded four brothers, William Russell McCoy, James Leo McCoy, Robert Reid McCoy, and Basil Edgar McCoy and two sisters, Bettie Rudicle McCoy and Edna Eloise Bolt.
She was a longtime member of St. John’s United Methodist Church and retired from JC Penney in Staunton with 18 years of service.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Lenard Gray Jackson; two sons, Lawrence D. (Sandra) Jackson and Dennis W. Jackson; three grandchildren, Christine J. (Brian) Miller, Lee B. Jackson and Kimberly R. Jackson; two great grandchildren, Abigail M. and Isabelle O. Miller; sister, Mary Arline Long.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Monday, April 10, 2017 in St. John’s United Methodist Church by the Rev. Taylor C. Mertins.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.
