Kenneth Larry Wadsworth, 84, husband of Barbara J. (Borden) Wadsworth, of Royersford, PA, died Thursday, April 6, 2017 in his home surrounded by his family. Born on December 14, 1932 in Parker Ford, PA, he was a son of the late Kenneth and Sarah (Sterling) Wadsworth. He was a 1950 graduate of the Spring City High School and attended Williamson Trade School in Media, PA. Ken was drafted into the army and while stationed at Ft. Sill, OK, he met and married Barbara which was the best thing that ever happened to him. He was known as Larry if you lived in Spring City and was known as Kenny if you lived in Royersford. He was a graduate of Drexel University. Mr. Wadsworth worked as a mechanical engineer for Philadelphia Gear in King of Prussia for over 30 years before retiring in 1997. Larry was an active member of the First United Church of Christ of Spring City where he was the coordinator of the food pantry for many years. Kenny proudly served as a volunteer fireman with the Friendship Fire Company in Royersford for over 55 years, where he held many offices. He was so devoted he made a fire call in a tuxedo as the father of the bride. He also made a fire call while suffering with appendicitis. Kenny was an EMT and driver for Friendship Ambulance for 40 years. He served as a member of Royersford Borough Council for over 20 years. In addition to his wife of 60 years, Mr. Wadsworth is survived by three daughters, Deborah J. (Jack) Hill of Royersford, PA; Christy A. (Rick) Kern of Royersford, PA; Patti A. Gotwals of Royersford, PA; four grandchildren, Kenneth, Travis, Emily, Stephanie; four great grandsons; brother, Terry L. Wadsworth; and sister, Shirley V. Engle. Mr. Wadsworth was pre-deceased by grandson, J. Douglas Kern. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at the Friendship Fire Company, 269 Green Street, Royersford, PA on Friday, April 14, 2017 at 11:00 am. Officiating will be Rev. Erick J. Kern Jr. Burial will be held in the Limerick Garden of Memories, Limerick, PA. Friends will be received from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Thursday at the Cattermole - Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, PA or on Friday morning at the Friendship Fire Company from 9-10:45 am. Contributions may be made to “Royersford Fire Department” at the above address or to the First United Church of Christ of Spring City, 145 Chestnut Street, Spring City, PA 19475.
