Russell E. "Bud" Sanders, 89, of Arcola died at 3:33 p.m. Thursday (April 6, 2017) at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

No formal services will be held. Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Mr. Sanders was born Jan. 21, 1928, in Moultrie County, a son of Walter Russell and Marie (Gregg) Sanders. He married Nora Mae Zeigler in 1951; she survives.

Other survivors include one son, Eugene Sanders of Tuscola; two daughters, Ann Curcil of Bloomingdale and Brenda Sue Smyser of Mattoon; one brother, Ronnie Sanders of Atwood; one sister, Dorothy Whittington of Arcola; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death seven siblings.

Mr. Sanders farmed with his dad in the Bourbon area for many years. He worked at Young Radiator in Mattoon. He helped Irvin Thompson farm off and on for over 30 years.

He was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Arcola, the Eagle’s Club in Mattoon and the Moose Lodge in Mattoon.
