Norman Allen Fankhauser, Jr., 79, of Rice Lake died Friday, March 31, 2017 at Barron Care and Rehab. He was born July 23, 1937 in Rice Lake, WI to Norman and Alva (Hinze) Fankhauser. Norman graduated from Barron High School in 1955. He was married in Trinity Lutheran Church, Rice Lake on August 23, 1958 to Ruth Hedblom. He worked for Johnson's Retinning for several years, then for the Rice Lake Creamery. Norman also farmed and worked for Barron Creamery until it closed. He retired from Primera in Cameron.
Norman loved horses and mules, and pulled horses for several years. He was a farmer through and through, who enjoyed the animals and plants, and all that farming entailed.

Norman is survived by his wife, Ruth of Rice Lake; brothers: Richard (Kim) Fankhauser of Spooner, William (Annette) Fankhauser of Barron, Thomas Fankhauser of Rice Lake and Martin (Vicki) Fankhauser of Chippewa Falls; sister, Shirley (Jim) Behne of New Richmond; sister-in-law, Janice Hedblom of Rice Lake; stepmother:Alice Fankhauser; stepbrothers: David (Kathy) Husby of Cumberland, Charles (Kay Rita) of Dallas, Tx, and James (Kris) Husby of Osseo; many nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents: Norman Fankhauser Sr, Alva Fankhauser; and sister-in-law Diane Fankhauser.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church - Rice Lake with Pastor Janelle Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Wayside Cemetery - Barron. Pallbearers are Jerry Jergenson, Pat Fankhauser, Cody Fankhauser, David Wigchers, Dean Benson, Delbert Fankhauser and Jon Wigchers. The honorary pallbearer is Daryl Benson. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 on Wednesday at the Skinner Funeral Home in Rice Lake, and for an hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.

Skinner Funeral Home of Rice Lake is serving the family.
