Marilyn Lewis Hawkins, age 71, of Springdale entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on Saturday, April 1, 2017, with her loving husband and best friend by her side after a long and courageous fight against breast cancer.

She was born December 8, 1945 at City Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Ernest M. and Vivian (Couch) Lewis.

Her family moved from Paragould, Arkansas to Huntsville, Arkansas in 1963 where she met her future husband, Jeff Hawkins.

After graduating from Huntsville High School, she attended the University of Arkansas.

Following marriage and Jeff's graduation from pharmacy school, they settled in Springdale in 1981. She wanted to raise her children, so she was a stay-at-home mom. She did raise three wonderful daughters.

Later she went to work with Dr. Jeff Rhodes at his pediatric dental clinic. She loved her job working with the children, soothing their fears with motherly kindness and hugs. She retired after 20 years of giving those hugs, looking forward to giving lots of hugs to her four granddaughters and one grandson. The greatest joy in her life was her grandkids, loving them with all her heart and soul.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Charles Jeff Hawkins; three daughters, Heather Glascock (her husband Chad and daughters, McKenna, and Brynlee) of Wake Forest, North Carolina, Courtney Harmon (her husband, Phillip, daughters, Tayler, and Teagen, and son, Tyler) of Huntsville, Alabama, and Kendra Hawkins of Springdale; one brother, Robert Lewis (and his wife, Sherri) of Fayetteville. Marilyn was blessed with beauty and a vivacious personality. We miss her terribly and will cherish her memory.

Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday April 8, 2017 at Moore's Chapel, Fayetteville.
