- BROCTON - Alice A. Thayer, 90, of Colt Road, died Sunday (Dec. 5, 1999) in the Westfield Memorial Hospital. A lifelong Brocton area resident, she was born Jan. 26, 1909, in Brocton, the daughter of Ira and Ella Hewitt Ellsworth. Prior to retirement in 1972, she was employed as a seamstress by Niagara Therapy Manufacturing Corp. in Brocton. Surviving are several nieces and nephews, including Kathy Bowser of Westfield and Nancy Hill of Monroe, N.C., whom she raised; and her companion of 30 years, Charles Wright, with whom she made her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Thayer, in 1965. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Morse Funeral Home Brocton. The Rev. Gary Henry, pastor of the West Portland Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Portland Evergreen Cemetery. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
