Steven Mitchell Boyd, 60 years of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Thursday, April 6th, 2017 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital following a brief illness.

Steven was born in Somerset, Kentucky on August 3rd, 1956, son of the late William B. and Ellen Faye Burton Boyd. Steven was a Construction worker for over twenty-six years until he became disabled. He was a quiet natured gentleman who loved spending time with his family, but enjoyed his time alone as well. He had a genuine passion for nature and looked forward to his walks at Cumberland Falls, and the Natural Arch with his loving wife. He was of the Pentecostal faith and often attended the Church of God of Prophecy prior to his illness.

Steven was survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Kelly Boyd; one son, Robert W. Boyd of Somerset, Kentucky; one daughter, Jenny R. (and Matthew) Chaplin of Somerset, Kentucky; three brothers, David (and Rhonda) Boyd of Somerset, Kentucky, Russell (and Lisa) Boyd of Science Hill, Kentucky, and Mark (and Missy) Boyd of Lexington, Kentucky; three sisters, Pamela (and James) Watkins, Melinda (and Steve) Whittle, both of Somerset, Kentucky, and Regina (and Scott) Compton of Louisville, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Chelsea, Chastin, and Charlie Chaplin; three great-grandchildren, Elijah, Liam, and Noah; twelve nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Boyd, who departed this life on September 16th, 2006 and Ellen Faye Boyd, who departed this life on August 23rd, 2009; and one nephew, Michael Fisher.

Visitations were held for family at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 10th, 2017 at the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with invites for their friends and the public to join them at 12:00 noon.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 10th, 2017 in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Bell officiating.

Interment followed in the Southern Oaks Cemetery.
