Harold Lee Altenburger, 84, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 in Kalida surrounded by his family. He was born February 8, 1933 to George and Frances (Ellerbrock) Altenburger in Cloverdale. He married his loving wife Carol Jerwers on October 6, 1962.

Harold served two years in the army stationed at Fort Lewis near Tacoma, WA. He worked as a machinist at the Clark Equipment Company in Lima until its closing in the late 1970's. He then worked at Verhoff Machine and Welding in Continental until his retirement.

Harold enjoyed bowling, camping, and working on cars and was known by many for his fondness of the Chevrolet Corvair automobile.

Survivors include his wife Carol; his two daughters, Dianne (Dean) Eagleson of Continental and Brenda (Alvin) Schnipke of Cloverdale; his son, Gene (Michelle) Altenburger of Maumee; seven grandchildren, Jessica, Jennifer, Nik, Megan, Adam, Matthew and Lauren; six great-grandchildren, Ashton, Draven, Zachery, Jillian, Jaelyn, and Makenzie. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Sharon; his parents; and his two sisters, Marie Burgei and Martha Miller.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 10, 2017 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida with Fr. Mark Hoying officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Continental American Legion.
