of Jackson, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at the age of 100 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Catherine. He is survived by his daughter, Valerie (Allan) Marzano and his son, James (Birdie) Franklin; nine grandchildren, Robert (Suzanne) Marzano, Dr. David Marzano, M.D., Elizabeth (Brad) Saunders, Joseph Marzano, Kathleen (Matthew) Foster, Michael Marzano, Nicole (Andy) Weeks, Alison (Nicholas) Spencer, and Leslie (Nathan) Vermeulen; and fourteen great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Muriel, and his brother, Myer.
Jerry was an Army Veteran of World War II, former chairman of Jackson Community Foundation, former president of Jackson Iron & Metal Company, and former president of Jackson Steel Service. Jerry was also a former president of the Country Club of Jackson. He was an avid golfer and bridge player. He was a four time golf champion at the Country Club of Jackson and a one time champion at Arbor Hills Country Club. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church on Monday, April 10 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Father Timothy MacDonald will be the celebrant at the Mass. Interment will take place at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
