George E. Barber, 94, of Spring Twp., formerly of Reading, passed away Tuesday, April 4th, at Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

George was born in Reading on November 15, 1922, a son of the late Maggie (Becker) and Charles Barber. He was the widower of Irene J. (Zielinski) Barber. They were married May 6, 1950, and she passed away on August 12, 2011.

He was a member of St. Johns German Lutheran Church, Reading.

George was a 1942 graduate of Reading High School.

He was a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII.

He was employed as an material handler at former Rockwell Industries for 37 years before he retired in 1985.

He was a big fan of both the Phillies and Eagles.

George is survived by a daughter, Joan M., wife of Kenneth Marcinkowski, with whom he last resided. He is also survived by 2 grandsons, Keith and Scott Marcinkowski, 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

George was predeceased by a brother, Paul Barber.

The family will meet at the Laureldale Cemetery Office, 4631 Pottsville Pike, Reading, at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 10th, with burial to follow. Sanders Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. 1501 N. 11th St., Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
