Virginia "Ginger" Kay George, 71, of Lumberton, died Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at CHI St. Luke's Health Memorial, Lufkin, while traveling in East Texas on an antiquing trip. She was born on December 24, 1945, in Nocona, Texas, to Earline Oldham and James Dempsey. Ginger was a psychologist.

Survivors include her husband, Tommie George; Rhonda Castro of Dickinson; grandchildren, Sarah Marie Middaugh of Austin and Alex Castro of San Antonio; brother, Jimmy Lynn Dempsey and his wife, Martha, of Dallas; nephew, Mark Lynn Dempsey of McKinney, Texas; brother, Gary George and his wife, Patty, of Lumberton; and mother-in-law, Dorothy George of Lumberton. She is preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law, Weldon Eugene George, also of Lumberton.

A gathering of Mrs. George's family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 8, 2017, with her funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at First Baptist Church of Kountze, 100 West Monroe, Kountze. Her interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.
