Sublimity - Lee Bailey, 81, passed from this life on March 31st. Born Lydia Mamie,1936 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Lee lived in many states and enjoyed her time living in Italy and Alaska before settling down in Oregon in 1980 - especially enjoying her time in the Galice-Merlin area, Stayton and Sublimity.

In addition to her joy obtaining her college degree from Rogue Community College, she was instrumental in starting and coordinating the Moving On program there for single mothers, opening the door to further their education. Another of her great adventures was to live in and work in various fire camps in the west while her husband, Charles, flew helicopters on wildland fires.

Family was Lee's highest priority. In addition to her children, she was especially grateful for the privilege of raising her granddaughter, Alicia, getting her at just two days old. They enjoyed a special bond. She also enjoyed trips to the coast, crochet and reading as hobbies.

Lee is preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn and Lester; her siblings, Marie and Lyle, and her grandson, Jonathan.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Charles Bailey, her children, Karen (Doug) Semple, Bill Jankowski, Bob King, Shawn (Christy) King, Richard (Maria) Bailey, Rhonda Hoff, David Bailey, Phillip Bailey and Karen Snodgrass. She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

At her request, Lee will be "planted" at Willamette Veterans Cemetery with only family present.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Lee's name to a charity of the donor's choice.
