Kari Estes Hamilton, 49, of Hardy, Va., passed peacefully on April 4, 2017, after a courageous three-year battle with multiple myeloma.

She was born on September 6, 1967, to George W. and Karen A. Riggs.

Kari was preceded in death by her father, who inspired her bravery; and her sister, Shelby Riggs Dunlap.

Surviving is her devoted husband, M. Scott Hamilton; her loving daughters, Sydney Michelle and Sierra Christine Hamilton; her mother, Karen Riggs; brother, Chris (Sue) Riggs; sisters, Laurie (Ronnie) McClure and Amanda (Randy) Bartley; mother-in-law, Kiyoko Hamilton; father-in-law Mike (Pat) Hamilton; brother-in-law, M. Keith (Pamela) Hamilton; and sister-in-law, Michelle (John) Efird. In addition, Kari is survived by many caring nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She found great pleasure in being outdoors, especially boating and gardening. The pride she had for her daughters was beyond measure. She was a member of Cooper’s Cove Baptist Church and will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017, at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Cooper’s Cove Baptist Church with Pastor Kyle Dooley officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.oakeys.com.
