Billie Barnes, 79, of Panama City, FL, has gone on to his heavenly home March 31, 2017 at approximately 6:45pm.

He was a faithful member of Hiland Park Assembly of God for 20 years. He shared his love of God and ministered through singing gospel music. He was employed in route sales for multiple companies. He enjoyed travelling with his friends and family, bowling and playing softball. He brought joy and laughter to those around him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Arvie Barnes, he and his wife’s siblings, Lamar (Bertie Mae) Barnes, Gene Barnes, Helen Long, Jerry Segers, Grady (Hortense) Hood, Juanita Hood, Leroy (Bonnie) Hood, Evelyn (Preston) Heath, George Reece, Al Cobb, and Carol Hood.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Nell Barnes, and their siblings, Glenn (Virginia) Barnes, Wanda Segers, Ed Long, Myrtle Barnes, Catherine Reece, Helen Cobb, Clayton Hood, Edna (Bill) Erickson, Colon Hood, Jerry (Barbara) Hood, Jimmy (Linda) Hood Sr., as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews, and special grandnephew, John Clayton Hood.


Funeral services will begin 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Heritage Funeral Home. The family will receive friends beginning 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
