K, May 14, 1861, to serve two years; wounded in action, June 25, 1862, at Fair Oaks, Va.; discharged for disability, November 10, 1862; commissioned captain, July 4, 1861, with rank from April 26, 1861, original."

OBITUARY NOTES:
1. Capt. John Arts, one of Troy's most prominent citizens died yesterday at 6 Irving Place the home of his son John L. Arts.
2. Born in Prussia 08/19/1820, initially lived in Albany before coming here [Troy].
3. Operated a furniture business in Albany and afterwards here.
4. Previous to the war was commandant of the Albany City Volunteers.
5. Also organized and commanded the German Rifles [Troy].
6. Organized and was Captain of Company K, Second NY Volunteers.
7. Wounded at Fair Oaks, June 25, 1862 losing a leg.
8. Leaves a wife and seven children.
