Everett D. Reed Sr., 68, of York, died at 2:10 p.m. Wednesday at York Hospital. He was the husband of Jean D. (Forthman) Reed. The couple celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary May 6.

The service will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Workinger-Semmel Funeral Home Inc., 849 E. Market St., York. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery. Viewing will be 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Reed was born June 4, 1928, in Potter County. He was the son of the late Lafe C. and Ruth A. (Hanes) Reed.

He was a crane operator for the former Cole Steel Litton Industries for 32 years. He was a member of United Auto Workers Steelworkers Union 786 and American Association of Retired Persons.

Mr. Reed also is survived by a son, Everett D. Reed Jr. of York; three brothers, Darwin Reed of Edgewater, Fla., James Reed of Baltimore and Robert Reed of Red Lion; and a sister, Louise Hanes of York. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert H. Reed, who died April 3, 1975.

Officiating at the service will be the Rev. William A. Speers, retired pastor of United Church of Christ. Memorial contributions may be made to York Cancer Center, Cancer Patient Help Fund, 25 Monument Road, Suite 194, York 17403.
