A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 7, 2017, at Randolph Memorial Park with Mr. Charles Reeder officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
Born April 15, 1934 in Chatham County, Mr. Bridges was the son of the late Alton and Delette Bridges. He was retired from Black & Decker and served in the National Guard for 13 years. Mr. Bridges was a volunteer fireman and a beekeeper. He taught lapidary at RCC, which is the art of cutting, engraving and polishing stones for jewelry. Mr. Bridges was a avid gardener, he loved fishing and was a fan of bluegrass music.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Yates Bridges; and a sister, Sarah Vestal.
Mr. Bridges is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Bridges of the home; son, William C. Bridges, Jr. and wife, Therisa of Alabama; sister, Mary Thornburg and husband, Leon of Asheboro; sister-in-law, Barbara Hardister; brothers-in-law, Billy Cranford and Wesley Vestal; grandchildren, Zachary Thompson, Michael Thompson and wife, Michele, Hannah Hauck and husband, Eric, Cody Bridges, Brittany Bridges, Amber Bridges; great-grandchildren, Noah, Charlotte, Cecily, Chris, and Sierra.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
