Most sources I found, including The Genealogical and Family History of the State of NH, Vol. 4, by Ezra S. Stearns at: ia800302.us.archive.org, http://sites.rootsweb.com/~kinomine/p494.htm#i7877, and the The Payne-Dodge Genealogy at: mathcs.clarku.edu/~djoyce/gen/report/rr07/rr07_341.html#P2642, state that Sarah Proctor (1646-1711) was the wife of Capt. John Dodge (1636-1722), son of "Farmer" William Dodge and Elizabeth Koxe.
In the Genealogy of the Dodge Family of Essex Co., MA, Vol. 1, pgs. 23-24, Joseph T. Dodge avoids the whole debate by just referring to Lt. John's wife as just "Sarah" on pg. 24, but he does say Capt. John, son of "Farmer" William Dodge, m. Sarah Proctor in 1659 on pg. 15. So I conclude that Lt. John's wife was most likely Sarah Porter (1645/6-1705/6). One thing everyone seems to agree on, except for https://sites.rootsweb.com/~deschart/z0000763.html, is that Lt. John's wife d. in 1705/6, not 1711, which is when Capt. John's wife, Sarah Proctor died.
