Obituary for Eddie L. Black

Mooreville—Eddie Lee Black, 78, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at his residence. He was born October 27, 1938 in Union County, the son of Julius Edwin "Ed" Black and Ever Lee Black. Eddie proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was retired from the Army Reserves as First Sergeant. He served one tour of duty in Panama. He married his soul mate and love of his life, Barbara, August 29, 1983. Eddie was a faithful member of Bougefala Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and served as president of the Golden Agers. He also founded a prayer group there. He worked over 30 years for Malone and Hyde Corporation and later worked as a truck driver. Eddie loved being outside, working around his home and spending time with his family who loved him and will miss him dearly.

Services will be 12 Noon Tuesday, April 4 at the Lee Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. David Perry and Bro. Mike Johnson officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Eddie leaves behind his wife of 34 years, Barbara Hammock Black; 4 sons, Mike Black (Marti), Clifton Moses, John Moses (Darla), and Chris Moses; 2 daughters, Sheila Ryan and Tina Osborne; his sister, Linda Stewart (David); 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and 11 siblings, Mabelle Raines, Alvie Black, Laura Hall, Vera Gregory, Inez Black, Joe Black, James Black, JoeAnn Robertson, Julius Black, Margaret Hicks, and Joleen Scott.

Pallbearers will be Steve Taylor, Ricky Denton, Earl Hester, Macky Guess, John Moses, Chris Moses, and Fred Gandy. Honorary pallbearers will be the U.S. Reserves 658th Supply Company.

Visitation will be 5-9 pm Monday at the funeral home.
