Mrs. Phyllis Reese Benson, age 77, passed away on March 31, 2017. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 11 AM at Hardwick Baptist Church in Milledgeville with Rev. Bill Kitchen officiating. Interment will be at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

The Family will receive friends at Hardwick Baptist Church on Tuesday from 10 AM until the service hour.

Mrs. Benson was a native of Laurens County and had made her home in Milledgeville. She had retired from Central State Hospital and enjoyed reading, spending time with her family, cooking and collecting cook books as well as communicating with her friends and sharing inspirational messages and Bible verses on Facebook. Mrs. Benson loved her family and enjoyed her grandchildren. She was a member of Hardwick Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Lyman Benson; her parents, Lillian Ellington Stuckey and Johnny Lawson Reese, Sr.; and her brother, Johnny Lawson Reese, Jr.

Mrs. Benson is survived by one son, one daughter, and grandchildren.

She is also survived by a number of Aunts, many cousins and a number of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, individual snacks, treats and drinks are requested for the cancer patients at the Cancer Treatment Center at Oconee Regional Medical Center in Milledgeville, Ga. For more information, please contact the Cancer Treatment Center directly at 478-453-1806.
