Robert Eugene McClaskey was my neighbor. He was a wonderful man and treated me like one of his children. Growing up with him was the best. He was a larger than life man, sometimes intempered, but truely kind and caring. My mom was a single parent and Bob and his wife Anne always looked out for us. They had horses, and pigs and ATV's. He kept a rose garden in his backyard. Their house and yard were pristine. They had a large swimming pool with a diving board and slide. I spent most of my summers in that pool.

Bob owned his own texturing business. He would be up at 4 or 5 in the morning and not come home until late in the afternoon and evening. He worked so hard and took good care of his family.

After I moved away, his wife Anne became ill from a Ensephalitis. She was ill for many months and needed to be bathed and cared for. Times were hard, she survived with some damage to her brain, but still has functioned all these years. Bob was there with her every step of the way.

When Bob passed he left his wife Anne - also a 2nd parent to me. I love her so much. He also left two step-children, Donnie and Gayle.

Bob had one son of his own, Gary. Their house was covered with pictures of him. He was a very loved and spoiled little boy, but was always expected to be no less than perfect, and for the most part he was. Since I grew up with three other sisters, Gary was my brother. We fought and he teased me alot, but I did and will always love him like my own.

There is the family you are born to and the family you choose. I have always felt fortunate that the McClaskey's chose us.

It is with great love and admiration that I honor him on this site.

DO NOT STAND AT MY GRAVE AND WEEP

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!!
