Mr. Homer Hawley, who was born in East Cambridge, VT., Feb. 15th, 1833, died in Macon, Georgia, May 8th, 1886, of consumption. He was buried the 18th of May in the Hawley burying ground near his old birth place.

During the war he was a member of Co. I. 1st VT. Calvary. No doubt his ill health dated from this period,as he has ever since compelled to follow some light employment.

This made him quite the traveler, visiting a large part of his own country, Australia, India and Europe. Since his return, with the exception of a few months in Florida, he has resided in Georgia.

His death found him in full hope of eternal life through Christ, in whom he trusted for salvation. His dying testimony was that "Jesus was with him." I have known him intimately as a business partner for 4 years. He was honest, upright and just in all his dealings, and it gives me pleasure to pay this respect to my dear friend and Christian brother. Rev. A. Richards
