Mrs. Carter, born in Sampson County, was the daughter of the late Raymond and Maggie Justice Andrews, and the widow of Albert Washington Carter. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Sonny Andrews.
She was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church and loved attending "tent revivals" and had a passion for the Lord. She was a homemaker all her life.
She is survived by two sons, Wayne D. Carter and Jay Carter both of Fayetteville; two grandchildren Michelle C. Williams and husband, Carlyle of Clinton; Lee Ann Simpson of Fayetteville; three great grandchildren, Mary Ashleigh Williams, Joseph Williams, Halee Ann Simpson; and a sister, Lois Sandy of Clinton.
