Larry Stark

Larry M. Stark, 67, of Stockport died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Born Dec. 4, 1940, in Henry County, he was the son of Harley and Eileen Nelson Stark. On Dec. 24, 1962, he married Laura Karen Giberson in Keosauqua.

Mr. Stark farmed and worked as a maintenance supervisor at Vista Bakery in Burlington for 44 years.

He was raised in Round Prairie Township in Jefferson County and graduated from Stockport High School. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed antique engines, deer and turkey hunting, attending Midwest Old Threshers and collecting old tractors and cars.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Michael Stark and Monty Stark, both of Mount Pleasant, and Nathan Stark of Hillsboro; three daughters, Sheila Wilkerson of Salem, Rhonda Stark of Stockport and Tasha Stark of Lockridge; 18 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Steven Stark of Harrisonville, Mo., and Richard Tyner of Salina, Kan.; and three sisters, Cheryl Giberson of Mount Pleasant, Kandi Stark-Reeder of Lockridge and Kim Griep of Salina, Kan.

He was preceded in death by his mother, his father, his biological father and one brother.

There will be no formal visitation.

The funeral for Mr. Stark will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant, with Lothar Lengtat officiating. Burial will be in Spencer Cemetery near Stockport.
