TORNADO VICTIM - Retired school bus driver Jamie Lynn Wright, 55, and her boyfriend Donald "Scott" Lamond, 49, were killed when a tornado reduced their Lake Mack home to rubble, scraps of wood and twisted metal.

The couple ran a produce business and were happy on the lake with their new, slower paced life in the country.

"She was talking about how she loved living on the lake. She opened a fruit stand. She was just real happy to be here," said her son, Bryan McKiness, 31, who flew down from Chicago after hearing of the storms. He didn't know his mother had died until he arrived.

"We survived Hurricane Andrew in Homestead and it looked just like this," McKiness said Saturday as he collected mementos from the mess that was once his mother's home. "Mom said she'd had enough of hurricanes so she moved here. She was tickled to death about it. She was learning so much about fruit. She was enjoying the good life."

The woman's daughter, Sonya McKiness, 33, of Homestead, said the couple was killed while they were sleeping in the bed, side by side.
