Kenneth Lee “Johnny” Nickerson, age 76, of Brooksville, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 3, 2017. He was born on April 18, 1940, in Bracken County, Kentucky, to Woodrow Nickerson and Bertha Darnell. On September 20, 1958, he married his best friend, Ruth Nickerson (Earls). Johnny loved to fish and was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan. He enjoyed going for rides with anyone who wanted to go along to talk about everything and nothing. He was a member of Chatham Christian Church and enjoyed the fellowship and friendship of those who attended. He was a quiet man, and the family knew when “dad/papaw” spoke, you better be listening. Johnny retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years of service. He did a tour in Vietnam and Korea and four tours in Germany. He took great pride in his military career.

He was predeceased by his beautiful daughter, Gail Ann, and his son, Bobby. He is survived by: his wife of 57 years, Ruth Ann, of Brooksville; a daughter, Joyce, and husband, Michael, of Etna, Maine; son, John, of Brooksville; and son, Leroy, and his fiancée, Nina, of Brooksville. He has grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was loved beyond measure and will be missed by all with whom he came into contact.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 7, at the Chatham Christian Church. Burial will be in Brooksville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the church.
