Richard William PENTECOST
The Southern Banner
Feb. 09, 1839.

Died at his residence in Jackson County, Georgia, on the 27th of January, the Rev. William Pentecost, in the 77th year of his age. The deceased was one of the patriots who served his country in the American Revolution. He was a native of Virginia, from where he removed to Georgia, where he lived and died. He has been an exemplary member of the Methodist Church for the last fifty years of his life, the most of which he was engaged in preaching the Gospel; and was highly esteemed by all who knew him, both as "a citizen" and a Christian. From this visitation of Providence, the counrty has lost another one of her few remaining patriotic worthies, the community has been deprived of one of its best citizen; and a large number of relatives and friends left to mourn his loss, who feel assurance that this is his eternal gain, and that he is gone to reap his reward in Heaven.
