Myra Faith Martin

BORN: April 5, 1933
DIED: April 1, 2017
LOCATION: Morrilton, Arkansas

Myra Faith Wharton Martin, age 83, of Morrilton, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017. She was born April 5, 1933 in Mallettown, Arkansas, a daughter of John William Wharton and Mattie Jane Hiett Wharton. She was the widow of James L. Martin. Myra was a member of Springfield United Methodist Church.
Myra started working at Rehans department store at the age 16 and later began working for Judge J.G. Moore as a secretary. He became a mentor and father figure to her and her husband James because both had lost their fathers at an early age. This experience helped mold her personality and build a good foundation for her life. After she and James married they worked together in insurance real estate appraisals and income tax services. Myra was an avid Junker and former owner of The Robins Nest with her daughter Robin. She loved her family and friends dearly and put others before herself. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she spent many hours helping with homework and school projects. It was a great quality of hers to always see the good in people despite their circumstances. Her life's goal was to set a good Christian example for her children and grandchildren to follow in her footsteps by knowing the Lord.
She is survived by a son, Hal Martin (Deborah) of Morrilton: daughter, Robin Parrish (David) of Morrilton: grandsons, James Martin (Kelly) of Greenbrier, Ryan Martin (Jamey) of Morrilton, and Ashley Hawkins (Clayton) of Morrilton: great-grandchildren, Garret and Emmie Faith Martin of Greenbrier, Ally Martin and Sashe Erdman of Morrilton, and Caden Robert Hawkins of Morrilton. Special niece, Jane Ruff, and special acknowledgement of Linder Ross Hall who also called her "momma", both were constants through it all. Other than her husband and her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Othel Wharton, Lula Johnson, Leona Bizzell, Audrey Wharton, Alta Payne, Marvelle Smith and Georgia Russell.
Funeral services were 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 6, at the Harris Chapel with Bro. Hawk Coleman and Dr. Bill Brown officiating. Burial was at Mallettown Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. Pallbearers were Dr. Clifford Evans, Clayton Hawkins, Bruce Hawkins, Bobby Brents, Bryan Bostian and Gary Flory. Memorials may be made to: Springfield United Methodist Church or a Charity of your choosing.
