Mrs. West was born May 25, 1927 in Caldwell County to the late Simon Holsclaw and Effie White Holsclaw.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Paul West Sr. and a brother, James Holsclaw.
"Kat" was best remembered as "the paper lady" in the Oak Hill Community. For over 25 years, she delivered papers in her little blue Volkswagen. She was a member of Union Baptist Church and worked for over 20 years at Kohler and Campbell Piano Company in Sawmills. She was a very loving mother and grandmother, taking great pleasure in the time she spent with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Paul Mitchell West and wife Mary, Terry West, all of Lenoir, her grandchildren, Paige West-Smith and husband Charles of Lenoir, Ellen Edmisten and husband Mark of Newton, Mandy Rominger and husband Clint of Hickory McKensi West of Charlotte, great grandchildren, Madeline and Savannah Edmisten.
A graveside service to honor the memory of Mrs. West will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Union Baptist Church Cemetery at 3:00 pm with Rev. Marietta Smith officiating.
