Mrs. John V. Hair Buried On Tuesday

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at W. Y. Goff Chapel for Mrs. John V. Hair, 74, 1603 Park St. The Rev. Richard Lord conducted the service and burial was in Rosemound Cemetery.

Mrs. Hair died July 18 in Oaks Manor Nursing Home.

The former Sally Ann Painter was born Aug. 14, 1890, at Acworth, Ga., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Painter [Panter]. She moved to Texas with her family at the age of five and they settled first in Lamar County. She had lived in the Commerce area for the past 39 years. She was married to John V. Hair on Dec. 16, 1932, at Sulphur Springs.

Since childhood, Mrs. Hair had been a member of the Methodist Church.

Pallbearers were J. T. Stephens, Billy V. Stephens, Larry D. Shearin, Jerry Shearin, Russell Stephens, and Harvey Brown.

Survivors include her husband, John V. Hair; two daughters, Mrs. L. E. (Juanita) Clayton of South Sulphur and Mrs. Alfred Longshore of Santa Fe, N.M.; two sons, Verne Stephens of Direct and William Russell Stephens of Ragtown; one sister, Mrs. Stella Knowles of Johnson City, Tenn.; one brother, Ollie Painter [Panter] of Bakersfield, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
