Stuart P. Bates, age 57, of Holly, died March 29, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, April 3, 2017 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Visitation will be from 2-9 PM Sunday.

Mr. Bates was born on May 28, 1959 to Gordon and Helen (Dale) Bates.

He had served as a Clinical Director for Woodward Counseling and was known as a compassionate person who had a soft spot for the disabled.

He is survived by his wife Loretta; 3 children, Cody Bates, Sierra Bates, and Savanna Bates; 2 step-children, Ryan Woodin and Kerry Lowe; 4 grandchildren, Lacie Woodin, Mackenzie Lowe, Miles Woodin, and Kelsey Woodin; mother Helen Bates; brother Curtis (Jane) Bates; and sister Laura (Richard) Spens. He was preceded in death by his father Gordon Bates and brother Warren Bates.
